Four Books Left for Goncourt and Six for Femina (Updated)

There was a small event on october 25th. The Academie Goncourt has selected further the candidates for Le prix de l'Academie Goncourt 2005. Then, the next day , Femina jury has also selected six books.

Pada 25 Oktober kemarin, Academie Goncourt memilih empat calon pemenang Le prix de l'Academie Goncourt 2005. Kemudian, keesokan harinya, juri Femina memilih enam buku finalis.

Le prix de l'Academie Goncourt 2005, the most prestigious prize for literature in France, will now be diputed by the following books. Le prix de l'Academie Goncourt 2005, penghargaan paling bergengsi kesusastraan Prancis, akan diperebutkan oleh:

* Falaises (Cliff/Tebing Karang) Olivier Adam

* La possibilité d'une île (The possibility of an island/Kemungkinan Pulau(???)) Michel Houellebecq

* Fuir (Flee/Kabur) Jean-Philippe Toussaint

* Trois jours chez ma mère (Three days in my mother house/Tiga hari di rumah ibuku) François Weyergan


The jury committee were asked to select three, but they selected four of eight.
Beside the number, the result is slightly surprising for me. I didn't think that Falaises and Trois jours chez ma mere would be able to go so far. So many people have talked about Fuir, and of course for the obligatory Houellebecq, but not the other two. I expected Pierre Assouline' Lutetia to be a finalist.

Juri sebenarnya diharapkan untuk memilih tiga buku, tapi mereka memutuskan untuk memilih empat dari delapan buku. Selain jumlah, hasilnya sendiri cukup mengejutkan buat saya. Saya tidak duga Falaises dan Trois jours chez ma mere akan pergi jauh. Banyak orang bicara tentang Fuir, dan yang tak terelakkan Houellebecq. Tadinya saya pikir Lutetia karya Pierre Assouline yang bisa jadi finalis.

This does not really change my book shopping plan though. I thought of buying Fuir, I'll buy it next week.

Semua ini tidak mengubah rencana belanja buku saya jadinya. Saya berpikir untuk memiliki Fuir. Minggu depan saya bakal beli buku itu.
